Felted fleece rug care:
How to keep your felted fleece rug for decades?
Wool is a wonderful natural material that, thanks to its composition (lanolin), is dirt-repellent and self-cleaning. With proper care, UTE felted fleece rugs will last from generation to generation.
Daily care
Refreshing: It is enough to beat or shake the wool outdoors from time to time.
Winter "snow sauna": The best way to refresh the wool is to rub it with crisp, clean, dry snow and then shake it clean of the snow. This removes dust and highlights the curls again.
Keeping it outdoors for a few days in the cold or putting it in a heated sauna a few times a year helps keep moths away.
Thorough cleaning (if the felted fleece rug is heavily soiled)
Machine wash: Use the gentle wool wash or hand wash program of the washing machine (up to 30°C). Be sure to use a special wool detergent.
Drying: Lay it out wet on a rack to dry.
Refreshing treatment: After washing, the wool may feel a little denser. To bring back the shine to your beautiful wool curls, you can gently brush the dry felted fleece rug (with a regular hairbrush) or separate the strands with your fingers/rod.
Tip: For an especially effective result, you can lightly pat a little curling cream or oil into the curls.
